Human trafficking is a travesty that is hidden in plain sight.
It happens in every zip code. It crosses all racial, socio-economic, educational lines.
Tennessee is making great strides to end human trafficking in our state.
In a few short years, our human trafficking laws have moved from mediocre to top of the nation. TBI now has four designated agents and by the middle of next year, all law enforcement officers in the state will be trained on the issue. We’ve developed communication and service provision protocols that keep victims from falling between the cracks. Through the Davidson County District Attorney’s office, we now have one of five specialized human trafficking courts in the nation. End Slavery Tennessee staff and TBI have spoken in the White House and the US Capitol about our model.
End Slavery Tennessee is the designated Single Point of Contact (SPOC) agency in middle Tennessee.
We receive referrals for all human trafficking victims, minors and adults, and provide long term, comprehensive, specialized aftercare. We operate two safe houses , always full, and need to grow. Referrals are growing exponentially. TBI Director Mark Gwyn tells us to expect numbers to keep growing for the foreseeable future.
