For the Spring Hill Group, May was quite the busy month: They watched the powerful documentary Girls Like Us, raised money for The Big Payback, sent out a presenter to discuss human trafficking and hosted a film screening of Rape For Profit at the Spring Hill Public Library. Now they are about to gear up for the Ride for Refuge auction!

The Murfreesboro Group began a food drive recently and collected nonperishable items for a quick and easy meal on the go for survivors. Each bag includes: crackers, peanut butter, soup, a juice box, snack cakes, popcorn and more. Next they will raise $60 to complete the printing of their education board prints. Along with this, they are designing a Ride for Refuge silent auction basket and discussing tasks to help with the volunteer picnic. Murfreesboro is working with Katie regarding training for Girl Scout troop leaders. There are big things happening within this hardworking group in terms of training and prevention! It will definitely be eye-opening for the community.

The Franklin Group had a great meeting this month including some new faces, as well as many familiar ones. Three volunteers performed a role play of their upcoming door hanger event to educate other volunteers on what to expect at this May 31 event in Franklin neighborhoods. Afterwards, the needs list was presented and Dave Kirkac from Our Thrift Store decided to hold a fundraiser to raise money to purchase appliances for a survivor. The fundraiser was successful, and the appliances were delivered last week! Lastly, the group discussed the need to change the general public’s opinion about minor victims and ways in which to bring about this change.  (Franklin update provided by Erica Smith.)
