Governor Signs Human Trafficking Bills                                            back to photo list

Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam signed three bills the first week of June 2011 to battle human trafficking. End Slavery Tennessee Director Derri Smith said, “We who devote our lives to seeing the end of human trafficking and slavery in our state are encouraged by this visible progress. It was the hard work and collaborative efforts of law enforcement, legislators and nonprofit organizations, like End Slavery Tennessee that brought us to this point. And it is exciting to see TBI freed to focus more resources on this tragic and fast-growing crime. This collaborative approach will help us reach this and future milestones in the march to re-establish Tennessee as a slave-free state. Among those due thanks are Ryan Dalton of Operation Broken Silence in Memphis for working with legislators to draft this legislation."
